For May’s GMD Los Angeles Tour, we’re heading to visit City of Los Angeles Individual Artist Fellowship—better known as COLA.

Since 2009, City of Los Angeles Individual Artist Fellowship has given $10,000 to recipients to produce new bodies of works that are premiered at LAMAG. This year's Fellows are Dave Hullfish Bailey, Guillermo Bert, Terry Braunstein, Cassils, Sandra de la Loza, Michelle Dizon, Tim Durfee, June Edmonds, d. Sabela Grimes, Peter J. Harris, Michele O’Marah, Julie Shafer, and Doris Sung, and Kristina Wong. The Fellows were chosen in three review-rounds by nine-interdisciplinary peer panelist who is curators, educators, non-profit gallerists, museum directors, and/or past COLA Fellows. This month’s special guest is Arianna Edmonds, Creator and Historian of J.L. Edmonds Project, a digital exploration life and legacy of her great-grandfather, a former slave turned, farmer, educator, political activist, real estate businessman, and founder & Editor of Los Angeles’ Liberator newspaper. Arianne C. Edmonds

Arianne C. Edmonds is a Los Angeles native who has been collecting, archiving and exploring the complexities of early Black Los Angeles history through the lens of genealogy for the past 10 years. Leading her start J.L. Edmonds Project, a digital exploration life and legacy of her great-grandfather, a former slave turned, farmer, educator, political activist, real estate businessman, and founder & Editor of Los Angeles’ Liberator newspaper.

We’ll meet in front of LAMAG. Find GMD’s founder Diane Lindquist waiting to meet y'all. There you will briefly introduce yourself, describe what you are passionate about, and your current art obsession before we proceed inside the museum.
