For September's GMD Los Angeles Tour, we’re heading to Norton Simon Museum!

Located in the charming Pasadena, Norton Simon Museum is a hidden gem. The Norton Simon Museum is home to one of the world’s most remarkable private art collections ever assembled. Selected artists, such as Rembrandt, Fragonard, Goya, Degas, Vuillard, and Picasso. We will be visiting these legend artist artworks as well as 'Line & Color: The Nature of Ellsworth Kelly'illustrates how Kelly, one of the progenitors of modernism, drew inspiration from nature and translated that into his own form of abstraction. For those interested (and totally optional) we will be grabbing lunch at Norton Simon Museum’s cafe and enjoying it in their art garden. The first five to arrive will receive an official GMD button. This month's speical guest is Kristen Turner, founder of Carpe Creative Studios.

Speical Guest

Kristen Turner

Kristen Turner is a creative entrepreneur currently living in Los Angeles. She has spent the past decade working in the entertainment industry, first as a wardrobe department before transitioning to the art department/ prop styling. In 2008 she started a blog and YouTube channel called Miss Kris. As a digital content creator her channel amassed over 7 million views and she collaborated with brands like Nordstrom Rack, Santa Margherita Wines, Honda, Hilton Hotels and Target. In early 2018, she launched her own creative agency, Carpe Creative Studios and uses her knowledge and expertise of the digital landscape to help brands creative their own original content and campaigns. Carpe Creative Studios handles everything from creative direction to the actual production execution.

12:00 – 12:30 pm Meet ’n Greet

We’ll meet in the front entrance of Norton Simon Museum. Find GMD’s founder Diane Lindquist waiting to meet y'all. There you will briefly introduce yourself, describe what you are passionate about, and your current art obsession before we proceed to the museum.

12:30 – 2:00 pm Museum Exploration

We will begin to explore Norton Simon Museum most iconic artworks and lastly explore 'Line & Color: The Nature of Ellsworth Kelly’. GMD Founder is an expert Instagramer, feel free to ask her to take a picture! The first five to arrive will receive an official GMD button. #GURLMusuemDay, official hashtag.

2:30 – 3:00 pm Announcements + Late Lunch*

At this time we will briefly have announcements of upcoming gatherings and you will have the option to join GMD Founder Diane Lindquist for a cup of coffee or late lunch at Norton Simon Museum’s art garden.

Parking

The Museum's parking lot is free of charge. The City of Pasadena provides a shuttle bus to transport passengers through the Pasadena Playhouse district, the Lake Avenue shopping district, and Old Pasadena. A shuttle stop is located in front of the Museum. The MTA bus line #180/181 stops in front of the Museum. The Memorial Park Station on the MTA Gold Line, the closest Metro Rail station to the Museum, is located at 125 E. Holly St. at Arroyo Parkway.
