Grab your kicks and join us for a gallery hop and mural walk! For August’s GMD Los Angeles Tour, we’re heading to visit three galleries and walk through some of the Instagramable murals in the Mid-City.
We will begin by meet in front of David Kordansky Gallery and proceed to walk towards the South La Brea Avenue and stop at ITD Los Angeles and Kayne Griffin Corcoran galleries. We will be walking about 0.45 miles. We highly recommend that you come with a water bottle and good walking shoes. This month’s special guest is Marina Murad, Designer + Art Director plus blogger at Tech Geek in Heels. Everyone attending will receive an official GMD button!

Mariana Murad is Designer and Art Director by day and Tech Geek in Heelsblogger at night. "I'll be writing about culture and how art + design + fashion + tech influences me as a designer living in the City of Angels. My primary goal here is to change the perception of how Middle Eastern women are portrayed by the media. Not in a political sense, though. Rest assured, by no means will this be a political commentary. Zero interest in that. What I am going to do, however, is start with myself, as a Middle Eastern woman with a seriously cultured background and a legit passion for style and tech."

10:00 – 10:30 am Meet ’n Greet
We’ll meet at the front entrance of the David Kordansky Gallery. Find GMD’s founder Diane Lindquist waiting to meet y'all. There you will briefly introduce yourself, describe what you are passionate about, and your current art obsession before we proceed to our gallery hop and mural walk.
We will quickly hop into the David Kordansky Gallery to see their recent exhibition titled 'Taurus and the Awakener’. A group exhibition featuring sculptures by Polly Apfelbaum, Huma Bhabha, Chakaia Booker, Barbara Chase-Riboud, Evan Holloway, Ruby Neri, Mindy Shapero, Arlene Shechet, Paul Pascal Thériault, and Betty Woodman. 'Taurus and the Awakener' take its title from the astrological lexicon and makes reference to the recent ingress of the planet Uranus into the zodiacal sign of Taurus.
10:30 – 12:30 pm Gallery Hop + Mural Walk
The second gallery will we hoping to ITD Los Angeles where we will check out 'Unbecoming: Yale MFA Photo 2018’.
Then hop to Kayne Griffin Corcoran gallery where we’ll see James Turrell exhibition. The exhibition will debut four unique Glassworks along with his Autonomous Structures, models, and prototypes for architectural spaces made between 1989 and 1991.
Afterward, we will talk towards the few murals along South La Brea Avenue ending that Almost Studio & Gallery. This is the moment we’ll hit Instagram mode and take those perfect insta shots and selfies with epic murals! GMD Founder is an expert Instagramer, feel free to ask her to take a picture!
