Hollywood Gallery Hop

Grab your kicks and water bottle because it’s gallery hop time! For August’s GMD Los Angeles Tour, we’re heading to visit over 6 galleries in Hollywood.

We will begin by meeting in front of Regen Projects gallery. Afterwards we will continue to walk towards 6+ remaining galleries to visit that day. We will be walking about 1.25 miles. We highly recommend that you come with a water bottle and good walking shoes. This month’s special guest is Taylor Bythewood-Porter, Assistant History Curator at CAAM. Everyone attending will receive an official GMD button!

This month's tour requires a pay admission fee of $25. Register via Eventbrite. Please note that all sales are final, there will be no refunds. Sorry gurls. This event will take place rain or shine.

Special Guest

Taylor Bythewood-Porter

Since 2017, Taylor Bythewood-Porter has served as assistant history curator at California African American Museum (CAAM). During her tenure she has contributed to several exhibitions including Circles and Circuits 1: History and Art of the Chinese Caribbean Diaspora (2017), Lezley Saar: Salon des Refúse (2017), How Sweet the Sound: The History of Gospel Music in Los Angeles (2018), California Bound: Slavery on the New Frontier, 1848–1865(2018), Los Angeles Freedom Rally, 1963 (2018), and The Liberator: Chronicling Black Los Angeles, 1900–1914 (2019).

Prior to Bythewood-Porter’s appointment at CAAM she served as president and a founding member of SIA Curates, a curatorial organization run through Sotheby’s Institute of Art at Claremont Graduate University that connects aspiring curators with Claremont's MFA students to develop yearly exhibitions. Bythewood-Porter is also the recipient of the 2018 Travel Scholarship to attend the Association of African American Museums (AAAM) conference and a participant in the Independent Curators International (ICI) Curatorial Intensive New Orleans 2019.

She holds a Master of Arts in art business with a concentration in contemporary art from Sotheby's Institute of Art at Claremont Graduate University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a focus on public relations and journalism and a minor in art history from Monmouth University.

12:00 – 12:30 am Meet ’n Greet

We’ll meet in the front entrance of the Regen Projects gallery. Find GMD’s founder Diane Lindquist waiting to meet y'all. There you will briefly introduce yourself, describe what you are passionate about, and your current art obsession before we proceed to our gallery hop.

12:30 – 3:30 pm Gallery Hop

We will be visiting at least 6 galleries in this hop! They are the following:

There will be amazing art within these galleries in which you want to the capture the best Instagram shots. GMD Founder is a expert Instagramer, feel free to ask her to take a picture! We will be walking about 1.25 mile. We highly recommend that you come with a water bottle and good walking kicks (tennis shoes). 3:30 – 4:00 pm Announcements

We strongly recommend you take public transportation or Lyft to location and parking is be limited. There is free street parking as well as meter parking. Selected locations have paid parking garages are nearby.
