For October’s GMD Los Angeles Tour, we’re heading to visit the current exhibitions at Vincent Price Art Museum (VPAM).
This hidden gem has been making monumental strives! Named after Vincent Price, noted actor, collector and one of Los Angeles’s great champions of the arts, the museum is located within East Los Angeles Community College (ELAC). It all began in 1957 when Vincent Price donated 90 pieces from his persona collection to establish the first “teaching art collection” housed at a community college. Today, the museum houses seven art galleries which can accommodate temporary rotating exhibitions, student shows, permanent collection shows, and artist and community projects. We will be exploring the museum current exhibitions such as, 'Gabriela Ruiz: Full of Tears’, ‘George Rodriguez: Double Vision’, ‘Carolina Caycedo: Apariciones/Apparitions’ and ‘Umbar Rashid (Frohawk Two Feathers): The world you know is a fiction. You know we had to do a remix, right? Vigenettes of the frenglish empire in North America (1780-1795)’.
We’ll meet in the front entrance of the Vincent Price Art Museum. This month’s special guest, Aureeyhan Edmundson (also known as Honey Blu), a student, singer/songwriter, poet, artivist & docent at California African American Museum (CAAM). Hosted by GMD Founder Diane Lindquist. Everyone attending will get a GMD Official Button!
