We’re mixing things up! For May's GMD Los Angeles Tour, we're heading to visit the Underground Museum, docent-led by Antoine Girard.
In 2017, W Magazine has called it “One of L.A.’s Most Vital Cultural Forces” and they are so right! To tell us all about the museum and exclusive on 'RoyDeCrava: The Work of Art’ is the Underground Museum’s Community Outreach Coordinator, Antoine Girard. He will to docent for the tour. We’ll meet in the front entrance of the Underground Museum. This month’s special guest, D’Ara Nazaryan, Designer and Illustrator. Everyone attending will get a GMD Official Button!
Entrance to The Underground Museum is always free and open to everyone. A portion of your GURL Museum Day tour fee will be given as a donation to the museum. The tour costs $10 which covers our organizations' administration fees and helps support future tour dates. Register via Eventbrite. Please note that all sales are final, there will be no refunds. Docent
Antoine Girard
Arts professional and a cultural strategist, Antoine Girard is passionate about the arts and social change. Professional and scholarly interests include black visual culture, and inclusive engagement strategies. He earned his B.A. in Art History from Howard University. He began his work in the museum field as a public and private tour guide at The Broad and CAAM. His work in the museum field, has garnered support from institutions such as The American Alliance of Museums, and the Western Arts Foundation, where he was recognized as an Emerging Leader of Color. Antoine lives as an museum professional currently serving as the Underground Museum’s Community Outreach Coordinator, and thought leader based in Southern California.
Special Guest
D'Ara Nazaryan
D'Ara Nazaryan was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Her carefully honed aesthetic sensibilities are her signature and have helped to inform her many practices. She has artfully crafted her path as a designer and illustrator for many years while recently collaborating with entities such as Pottery Barn and The Girl Scouts.

1:00 – 1:30 pm Meet ’n Greet
We’ll meet in the front entrance of the Underground Museum. Find GMD’s founder Diane Lindquist waiting to meet y'all. There you will briefly introduce yourself, describe what you are passionate about, and your current art obsession before we proceed to exhibition. You will also meet this month’s special guest, D’Ara Nazaryan, Designer and Illustrator.
1:30 – 3:00 pm Explore The Underground Museum
We will then enter the Underground Museum to meet our docent, Antoine Girard. Girard will briefly talk about the history of museum, it’s purpose and mission. Then Girard will guide us through 'Roy DeCarava: The Work of Art.’ Then will be able to stroll around the Underground Museum gardens.

At this time we will briefly have announcements of upcoming gatherings.
